Sam Logan has been living and working as a writer, journalist, and analyst in Latin America since 1998. He has lived in Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina. He currently lives in Rio de Janeiro.

 

Sam holds a BA in both Psychology and Spanish and an MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Sam prepares articles, presentations and reports in three languages.

 

He reports on security, politics, and energy in Latin America, specializing in organized crime, black markets, the drug trade, insurgencies, the illicit transfer of small arms and light weapons, and development. He specializes in the South American sub-region, specifically Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil. He has also followed closely the developments of organized crime and the drug trade in Guatemala and Mexico.
